Liverpool are preparing for a new era in the 2024/25 Premier League season with Arne Slot set for his debut in English soccer.

The Dutch coach formally took over at the start of June, with the club beginning a new chapter at Anfield, after the departure of iconic boss Jurgen Klopp.

Klopp shocked the Premier League by announcing his intention to leave Liverpool at the end of last season, back in January, after winning seven major trophies on Merseyside.

The German ended Liverpool's three decade wait for a top-flight league title in 2020 on the back of securing the club's sixth UEFA European Cup/Champions League crown in 2019.

However, players and fans are beginning to adjust to life under Slot, with the former Feyenoord chief a notably different character to Klopp.

Whilst Klopp's Liverpool was associated with his 'heavy metal' brand of football, with high-pressing and turnovers, Slot's approach is more possession based, and midfield star Harvey Elliott is enjoying the refresh.

"It's very elegant, Dutch style, it's very nice. The style of play is a lot different. It's more about possession now", he said during Liverpool's preseason tour of the USA.

"The players are excited, we play certain patterns, it's a good buzz around the team and the lads are excited to apply it in games.

"It's a fresh start for everyone. I don't think it's nerves but excitement. I think we will learn it very quickly. We saw in the last game there were certain moments where the football was free-flowing."

Elliott started in Liverpool's first tour game in the USA, as Slot picked up a 1-0 win over Real Betis, ahead of facing Arsenal on July 31 in Philadelphia.

Liverpool wrap up their time in North America against fierce rivals Manchester United on August 3 in North Carolina before starting their Premier League campaign at newly-promoted Ipswich Town on August 17.
