Barcelona are reportedly winning the transfer race to sign Athletic Bilbao forward Nico Williams ahead of Premier League duo Arsenal and Liverpool.
Williams has continued his impressive rise this summer, with the 22-year-old netting the breakthrough goal in Spain's Euro 2024 final win over England.
As a key part of Luis de la Fuente's team in the competition, Williams' partnership with Lamine Yamal looks set to lead the Spanish attack for many years, and they could also now link up on the club stage.
Nico Williams transfer fee, contract
Williams extended his contract in Bilbao until 2027 at the start of the year, with the Basque side looking to protect themselves in any potential transfer exit talks.
However, his new deal includes a reported €55 million ($59m) purchase option, which Arsenal and Liverpool have the financial muscle to pay.
Despite Barcelona's financial struggles, Williams is heavily rumored to be only interested in swapping the Basque Country for Catalonia, and Hansi Flick is considering him as his first marquee signing.
As per the latest update from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona sporting director Deco has met with Williams' agent, with the player now away on his summer break.
