Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has expressed his admiration for Moises Caicedo ahead of the team's final match on their US tour.
Despite a mixed start to his tenure, Maresca is clear about Caicedo’s crucial role in the squad.
Caicedo joined the squad late during their US tour and is set to be a key player for Chelsea this season. Despite limited time to get his match fitness up, his performance have impressed Maresca, making him almost certain to start against Manchester City in their opening game at Stamford Bridge.

Enzo Maresca's admiration for Moises Caicedo
Enzo Maresca, who has been at the helm for just four games, has already made his fondness for Caicedo evident.
Speaking to journalist Ben Jacobs, Maresca said: "I love Moi. I have known him for many years. I know the way he plays. Before the City game, he had just one session and a half. He had 45 minutes against City. The idea is to build his physical condition a little. We need him fit for the first game."

Competition in Chelsea’s Midfield
While Caicedo's spot seems secure, the competition for other midfield positions is fierce. Romeo Lavia has been one of the standout players during the tour, showing signs of a breakout season if he can maintain his form and fitness.
New signing Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Enzo Fernandez are also vying for starting roles, adding depth and options to Chelsea’s midfield. Maresca will have some tough decisions to make, but Caicedo’s inclusion appears to be a given.
With their final pre-season match against Real Madrid looming, the Italian coach is likely to have a clearer picture of his starting XI.
