Manchester City are looking to become the first team in history to win the Premier League five teams in a row as they begin the 2024/25 campaign with a trip to London to face Chelsea.

Pep Guardiola's side just beat Arsenal to the title last year and are hoping to repeat that success in the new season.

To help them do so, they've signed Savinho from Troyes but they have allowed Julian Alvarez to leave for Atletico Madrid for a club-record fee of £82 million ($106m).

Here's how Man City may line up to face Chelsea.

Man City lineup, starting 11, team news vs. Chelsea

Rodri has been ruled out of City's opening game against Chelsea this weekend, confirmed by Guardiola in his pre-match press conference.

Speaking about the Spanish midfielder's condition, Guardiola said: "He hasn't trained. I haven't seen him yet. He feels good, I believe, but we need to see how he responds physically.

"But there's no chance [he'll play against Chelsea]."

Phil Foden, John Stones, Kyle Walker, and Rodri missed last weekend's Community Shield victory due to an extended break following their participation in the Euro 2024 final. They returned to training this week, leaving Mateo Kovacic likely to start in midfield against Chelsea, and Rico Lewis could remain at right-back if Walker isn’t ready.

City will be without Oscar Bobb, who fractured his fibula in training and is expected to be sidelined for up to four months. Bernardo Silva, who scored in the Community Shield, is expected to start, with Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland also set to feature. Savinho may replace Bobb on the right wing.

Man City predicted XI (4-1-4-1 right to left): Ederson (GK) — Lewis, Akanji, Dias, Gvardiol — Kovacic — Savinho, Bernardo, De Bruyne, Doku — Haaland.

Injured: Oscar Bobb, Rodri, Jack Grealish (doubt)

Suspended: None
