Liverpool fans are celebrating after Virgil van Dijk picked up a red card in the Netherlands' 1-1 draw against Hungary, giving him some unexpected time off ahead of their big clash against Chelsea.
The Dutch captain received two yellow cards in just three minutes, and while the Netherlands may miss him against Germany in their next Nations League fixture, the Reds faithful are seeing the upside.

Van Dijk comments on red card
For many Reds fans, it feels like the football gods are smiling down on them, especially with Chelsea lurking just around the corner.
The thought of a well-rested Van Dijk leading the backline against the Blues has left many fans feeling hopeful about their chances to keep hold of that top spot in the Premier League.
But for Van Dijk, it wasn’t all sunshine and roses.
The Dutch captain expressed his frustration after the match, particularly with the first of his two bookings.
"I'm especially angry about the first," Van Dijk told ESPN Netherlands.
"They say the captain is the only one who can talk to the referee. I walk up to him... very respectful. If even the captain can't say anything ... then it gets difficult."
Liverpool vs. Chelsea preview
Despite his frustration, Liverpool fans are keeping their eyes on the bigger picture: a rested and ready Van Dijk for their massive match against Chelsea.
Anfield, mark your calendars. It’s going to be a big one as 4th-placed Chelsea faces league leaders Liverpool on October 20, when the international break concludes.
