Chelsea flop Malang Sarr is set to complete a transfer to French outfit RC Lens and will sign a two-year contract with the club, according to reports.
Sarr rose through the ranks at OGC Nice. The 25-year-old established himself as a regular first-team player in the summer of 2016 and had a four-year stint with them before leaving the club to join Chelsea as a free agent in 2020.
The move to Stamford Bridge has not worked out as planned for the centre-back. He spent the first season out on loan at FC Porto, where he hardly got regular first-team action. A season-long loan to AS Monaco followed, but even that proved indifferent.
While Sarr did return to his parent club for the 2023/24 campaign, he was frozen out of their first-team squad by then-manager Mauricio Pochettino for the entire season.

RC Lens set to sign Sarr from Chelsea
However, there is good news for everyone involved: it has been reported that Sarr will shortly sign with a new team, having reached full agreement over a two-year deal with Ligue 1 side RC Lens, with a medical expected to be completed within the next 48 hours.
Although the transfer fee remains undisclosed, it is believed that Chelsea would be content to let Sarr go either for free or for a nominal sum.
Lens will hope Sarr can rediscover the form that tempted the Blues to sign him in the first place and consider him a key player for their anticipated Europa Conference League campaign.
