Liverpool manager Arne Slot has left fans waiting with bated breath regarding Federico Chiesa’s availability for this weekend’s match against Crystal Palace.
Speaking ahead of the trip to Selhurst Park, Slot revealed that Chiesa hasn’t trained for the past few days, raising doubts about his inclusion in the squad.
“Chiesa didn’t train for the last two days,” Slot said. “He came in today to see if he could, and if he can, I will still have a decision to make. We can only select 20 players, and since he hasn’t trained, we need to see if he’s fit. It’s our call whether he comes with us or not.”

Chiesa's slow start at Liverpool
Chiesa, who has struggled with injuries in recent years, made his first start in the EFL Cup against West Ham last week.
While he picked up an assist for Diogo Jota in that match, he has since been sidelined, missing the game against Bologna and being limited to just 20 minutes of Premier League action this season. Despite his talent, Chiesa is likely to play a backup role this year given Liverpool’s stacked attack.
In other news, Harvey Elliott remains out with an ankle issue, having managed just eight minutes of play so far this season. Slot offered no fresh updates on Elliott’s condition, but with the international break looming, it’s possible that the midfielder could return after the break.
Liverpool, sitting at the top of the Premier League, will look to maintain their strong form. With Chiesa’s status uncertain, Slot may lean on Diogo Jota to replace Darwin Nunez in the lineup for this tricky away fixture at Selhurst Park.
