Fantasy Football: Kane stars again but defenders dominate Goal's Team of the Week image

This double game week was frustrating for many owners as the 0-0 draw between Manchester City and Stoke meant that many fantasy stars failed to capitalise on their second match.

You know who did not disappoint though? Defenders. In fact the backlines from both of the aformentioned teams managed the elusive double clean sheet. Not to be left out, plenty of single match players put in excellent performances and you can read tales of their exploits here in our Goal Fantasy Team of the Week.

Willy Caballero Manchester City

GK: Willy Caballero - Manchester City - 2 Games, 5 Saves, 2 Clean Sheets = 16 Points

As mentioned in our double game week piece, Caballero has really offered stability to what had previously been a leaky Manchester City defence. They have now kept four clean sheets in their last five matches which has finally given us hard evidence of Pep Guardiola’s imprint on the back line. Do not bother keeping Caballero now though as City will face the three best Premier League attacks after this weekend.

DF: Ryan Shawcross - Stoke City - 2 Games, 2 Clean Sheets = 14 Points

DF: Erik Pieters - Stoke City - 2 Games, 2 Clean Sheets = 14 Points

Manchester City weren’t the only ones to keep a double clean sheet this week. While none of the Stoke defenders managed any attacking points they now have nine clean sheets on the season which makes them top five in that category. Pieters is the highest scoring Stoke defender this year but they all seem decent options going forward.

DF: Bruno Martins Indi - Stoke City - 2 Games, 2 Clean Sheets = 14 Points

DF: Bacary Sagna - Manchester City - 2 Games, 2 Clean Sheets = 14 Points

GFX FANTASY TOTW MW27

DF: Gael Clichy - Manchester City - 2 Games, 2 Clean Sheets = 14 Points

MF: Nathan Redmond - Southampton - 1 Game, 2 Goals = 14 Points

MF: Dusan Tadic - Southampton - 1 Game, 1 Goal, 2 Assists = 14 Points

Tadic is one the most frustrating players in all of fantasy due to his inconsistent minutes. That having been said when he does play, he racks up the points. In fact, all of his goals (3) and assists (6) this season have come in matches wherein he has played 75 minutes or more. Unfortunately, only manager Claude Puel has any idea when those matches will be.

MF: Sadio Mane - Liverpool - 1 Game, 1 Goal, 1 Assist = 11 Points

Tottenham Everton Harry Kane

FWD: Harry Kane - Tottenham - 1 Game, 2 Goals = 12 Points

Kane being in the Goal Team of the Week is starting to become a weekly tradition. His two goals against Everton’s top ten defence were a pleasant surprise and, with 11 goals in his last 10 matches, the English forward now leads the Premier League in goals (19). He’s also an incredible own for the rest of the season as Tottenham will face just three top 10 defences before the end of the season.

FWD: Fernando Llorente - Swansea - 1 Game, 2 Goals = 12 Points
