Ex-Arsenal forward Podolski trolls Tottenham's White Hart Lane farewell image

Former Arsenal forward Lukas Podolski has taken the opportunity to remind Tottenham of a White Hart Lane memory they would rather forget as they bid farewell to their famous ground.

Spurs took in their final fixture at the iconic venue on Sunday as they overcame Manchester United 2-1 in a Premier League encounter.

Wenger drops hint over Arsenal future

That success ensured that they completed an unbeaten season on home soil in 2016-17, with Mauricio Pochettino’s side now preparing to take in a 12-month stint at Wembley as they wait for their new stadium to be finished.

Tottenham have been looking back fondly on their 118 years at White Hart Lane, but Podolski has pointed out that not every occasion was as a memorable one – with Arsenal having enjoyed their fair share of success across the north London divide, including a title triumph for the ‘Invincibles’ in 2004.

Podolski played his part in a 1-0 victory over Tottenham at White Hart Lane in March 2014.

Wenger out campaign meaningless

He suffered a 2-1 defeat 12 months earlier, but that fixture appears to have been erased from his memory bank.

Arsenal also came unstuck at the home of their arch-rivals this season and are destined to finish below them in the Premier League table, but there will be many more opportunities for them to give Podolski something to cheer in the future.
