Jadon Sancho's penalty record at Wembley Stadium worsened as he missed a vital spot-kick in Manchester United's 7-6 penalty shootout loss to Manchester City in the Community Shield.
While Sancho's failed attempt was not the decisive penalty, that was Jonny Evans' who skied high over the bar, the Englishman was the first to miss for United in the shootout.
Just three summers ago, Sancho couldn't convert from 12 yards at Wembley as England were defeated by Italy in the 2020 European Championship final.
The match against Man City was also his first on English soil for United following his fallout with manager Erik ten Hag last September.

Sancho's penalty miss a nightmare return to Man United
It was a somewhat nightmare return as his penalty was saved by Ederson in front of the traveling United support, who clapped and cheered him on in the run-up to the penalty spot.
Ten Hag was asked for his verdict on the missed penalty in his post-match press conference. The Dutchman said: "He’s a very good penalty taker and I had — and have — no doubts to let him score a penalty. Also in the future, he will take penalties.”
United perhaps would not have found themselves in that position had they learnt from their mistakes of last season as they yet again conceded so soon after taking the lead.
Alejandro Garnacho, who came on from the bench, thought he'd won the match for United in the 82nd minute when he slotted home past Ederson beautifully on his weaker foot.
But United folded under City's pressure and Bernardo Silva, another substitute, equalised in the 89th. Pep Guardiola's side went on to win the penalty shootout 7-6.

Ten Hag then discussed the result in further detail: "We are disappointed. We have to feel the pain and everyone does. But also I see some positives. We performed well and could have won this game.
"We were twice leading in the game. Then on penalties we lost. It is just disappointing that we couldn’t bring it over the line."
