The big news coming out of Goodison Park is that the saga around Amadou Onana's future has finally come to an end following the confirmation of his sale to Aston Villa.
With the 22-year-old’s exit expected for some time, the Toffees have been searching for Onana's replacement in the middle of the park for some time now.
Although it seems like the Toffees are devoting a lot of their time to finding Onana's replacement, there are rumours that the Merseyside team is also serious about signing a sought-after defensive player from Italy this summer.
The player in question is Hellas Verona ace Jackson Tchatchoua, whose future with the Serie A side has been under the scanner amid growing outside interest in his services, despite the Italian outfit only signing him permanently earlier this summer.

Everton are reportedly amongst the clubs who are interested in him and it has emerged that they have just failed with a bid. According to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato, the Toffees proposed £6.7 million ($8.6m) with £1.3 million ($1.7) in add-ons but the Serie A side is demanded £8.4million ($10.8m) plus £1.7 million ($2.2m) in add-ons.
It is also added that the Toffees could return to the table with an improved bid to match the Serie A side's asking price.
With Nathan Patterson still out through injury heading into the 2024/2025 season and veteran duo Ashley Young and Seamus Coleman not getting any younger, full-back positions are arguably the weakest in Sean Dyche's squad.
Tchatchoua looks to be an exciting 22-year-old right-back prospect and could bring the much-needed dynamism and dynamism on the flanks.
