Romelu Lukaku says he has learned not to focus on his standing in the race for the Premier League's golden boot ahead of this weekend's showdown with Tottenham rival Harry Kane.

Belgium striker Lukaku and Kane are joint level at the top of the division's scoring charts with Arsenal's Alexis Sanchez on 17 goals.

Lukaku hit 18 last season, but ended the campaign with a nine-game scoring drought, something he attributes to taking his eye off team matters.

And with the Toffees having closed to within four points of the top six ahead of Sunday's trip to White Hart Lane, Lukaku will not get involved in trying to outdo Kane.

"For me, it's just Tottenham v Everton," he told the club's official website.

"I don't like to look at what other players are doing.

"That's what cost me the golden boot last year so for me it's just a game I want to win.

"It's about winning games and scoring as many goals as possible. Records are there to be broken but I don't want to hype that.

"The most important thing is that we win because I want us to achieve the highest place possible."

Lukaku's effort against Sunderland on Saturday drew him level with Duncan Ferguson as Everton's most prolific Premier League striker on 60 goals.
