Despite losing Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United, big-spending Everton have plenty of new faces to blood during pre-season ahead of the new Premier League campaign.

The Toffees have caught the eye with their busy activity in the summer transfer window, splashing out over £70m on the likes of Jordan Pickford, Davy Klaassen, Michael Keane and Sandro Ramirez.

Everton got their pre-season campaign under way in Tanzania when they took on Kenyan champions Gor Mahia at the 60,000 capacity national stadium in Dar es Salaam. The Toffees won the game 2-1, with Wayne Rooney getting on the scoresheet.

The Blues will then start a training camp in the Netherlands before taking on FC Twente at the home of SV De Lutte in eastern Holland.

Everton take on Belgium outfit KRC Genk on July 22 before tackling a two-legged clash in the Europa League third qualifying round. They will learn their opponents on July 14, with games provisionally scheduled for July 27 and August 3.

Rooney: Why I rejected China

Ronald Koeman's men finish up their summer preparations against La Liga outfit Sevilla at Goodison Park in August.

While new boys Rooney, Keane and Klaassen travelled with the Everton squad to Tanzania, fellow new arrivals Pickford and Sandro were given extended time off.

DR Congo international Yannick Bolasie also joined up with Everton in East Africa and the winger was given a hero's welcome from locals. The 28-year-old is recovering from the serious knee injury he sustained back in December last year and is therefore not expected to feature until Christmas.
