Manchester City are ready to open contract extension talks with star striker Erling Haaland before the end of 2024.
Haaland's incredible goal scoring form has been central to City's success in his two full seasons in Manchester including a trophy treble in his debut 2022/23 campaign.
His 36 EPL goals in that season broke the long standing Golden Boot record, with City also winning a first-ever UEFA Champions League crown, and he won a second Premier League and Golden Boot title in 2023/24.

The goals continue to fly, with seven league goals already this season, and City are determined to tie him down beyond his current deal.

The Norwegian is less than half way through the five-year deal he signed after joining from Borussia Dortmund in 2022 but the club want him to commit past his current 2027 expiry date.
Reports from the Daily Mail indicate City are prepared to make him the highest-paid player in the Premier League with the 24-year-old in line to eclipse teammate Kevin De Bruyne as the top earner.
However, the prospect of a future move away remains on the horizon, as Haaland's representatives have consistently stated his desire to remain 'in control of his own destiny' regardless of club status.
Spanish outlet Marca indicate Haaland is willing to accept City's blockbuster offer but with a 'Real Madrid clause' inserted into the agreement.
Details on that addition are unconfirmed, and it could include a guarantee over accepting an offer from the Spanish giants, or a set exit fee that is within their price range.
Kylian Mbappe's arrival in the Spanish capital means Real Madrid are not actively pursuing Haaland but he remains firmly on their radar.
