Newcastle United right-back Kieran Trippier has reportedly been trying to persuade Conor Gallagher to join his former club, Atletico Madrid, this summer.
Gallagher wore the captain's armband for much of Chelsea's 2023/24 campaign in the absence of the injured Reece James and was a key cog in the engine room under Mauricio Pochettino.
The midfielder racked up 50 appearances across all competitions, chipping in with seven goals and providing nine assists along the way.
However, he is into the final year of his contract and has garnered interest from other Premier League clubs such as cross-London rivals Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa.

Trippier urges Gallagher to join Atletico Madrid
Atletico Madrid are also considering a move, having already seen a €20 million ($21.7m) bid turned down by the Blues this summer.
Spanish outlet AS now reports Los Rojiblancos have an "ally" in their pursuit to lure him from Chelsea in Gallagher's England team-mate Trippier, who has spoken "very highly of Atletico" in his conversations with the midfielder, urging him to mull over the move.
Trippier enjoyed two and a half years at the Metropolitano, shining under Diego Simeone's guidance and playing a crucial role in Atletico's 2021 La Liga triumph before returning to England to join Newcastle early last year.
