Arsenal could unleash a secret weapon in their rumoured transfer battle to bring in Brentford captain Ivan Toney.
The Gunners have been linked with a move for Toney across the last 12 months despite the experienced striker missing half of last season due to a suspension for betting offences.
Arsenal may have been confident the controversy would reduce Brentford's asking price, with Toney out of contract with the Bees in 2025. However, despite their initial stance of demanding around £80 million ($103m) for Toney, Brentford are now said to be looking for a practical resolution to avoid a free transfer in 2025.
That involves a reportedly significant reduction in their valuation, to around £50 million ($65m), with Arsenal keen to move quickly to wrap up a potential agreement.

As per the latest from the Daily Express, Arsenal are confident of convincing Toney to make the short trip across the English capital, and midfield star Declan Rice could play a key role.
The pair struck up a friendship in England's Euro 2024 camp and were later pictured holidaying together in Ibiza after their final loss.

Mikel Arteta could look to enlist the services of 'Agent Rice' as he aims to boost Arsenal's Premier League title charge next season.
Arteta has been frequently questioned on Arsenal's need for a traditional central attacker, with Toney scoring 20 Premier League goals in his last full season at Brentford, back in 2022/23.
Kai Havertz netted 13 league goals as Arsenal's attacking focal point last season with Bukayo Saka their top league scorer on 16.
