CHARLESTON, S.C. — Former College of Charleston men's basketball assistant Ryan Freeberg has joined the staff of crosstown rival Citadel.

Citadel coach Chuck Driesell announced the hire Wednesday. Freeberg takes over for J.D. Powell, who became assistant coach for the Cougars under new coach Earl Grant.

Freeberg spent the past two seasons working for fired College of Charleston coach Doug Wojcik. Before joining the Cougars, Freeberg was an assistant at Hutchinson Community College in Kansas. He was also spent five season at Concordia University in Minnesota, three years as an assistant and the final two as head coach.

Driesell said Freeberg has strong experience in recruiting and basketball knowledge and will be a help to the Bulldogs.
