This Sunday, the 39th version of the Los Angeles Marathon will take place, starting at Dodger Stadium and finishing at Santa Monica Blvd. at Avenue of the Stars. 

The women's pro race will begin at 6:40 a.m. PT, while the men's race will commence 20 minutes after at 7 a.m. PT. The weather is supposed to be phenomenal this weekend, making way for strong times. 

Last year, Eithiopia's Jemal Yimer won the men's side of the race, finishing with a time of 2:13:15. He was the first winner not named John Korir, who won in 2022 and 2021, since 2020. 

For the women, Kenya's Stacy Ndiwa won the race with a time of 2:31:02. A Kenyan woman has won three of the last four Los Angeles marathons.

How to watch the Los Angeles Marathon in 2024

The 2024 Los Angeles Marathon will be available on the city's local broadcast on KTLA 5, a CW affiliate. You can also stream the marathon regionally with Fubo, which carries KTLA. 

Los Angeles Marathon 2024 start time

Everything at Dodger Stadium, including the parking lot, gear check, and security checkpoints, will open at 3 a.m. PT.

The pro women's race will begin at 6:40 a.m. PT followed by the pro men's race 20 minutes later at 7 a.m. PT. 

The KTLA broadcast will begin at 6 a.m. and finish at 11:30 a.m.

The marathon begins at Dodger Stadium and takes you through an array of Los Angeles landmarks. 

It's not terribly hilly, starting at around 600 feet of elevation and ending somewhere between 350-400 feet. It's a relatively flat course, never changing more than 300 feet in elevation through the entire 26.2 miles.

Los Angeles Marathon weather forecast 2024

The weather for the weekend in Los Angeles appears to be perfect race conditions. 

The high for Sunday is 72 degrees in Los Angeles. There's a 4% chance of rain and winds of 7 miles per hour from the south. 

Over the weekend itself, the average temperature is around 70 degrees.

The course record for the men was set back in 2011 when Ethiopia's Markos Geneti ran 2:06:35. For the women, Askale Marachi of Ethiopia set the record in 2019 with a time of 2:24:11.
