DeAndre Kane injury update: Sprained ankle has Iowa State star iffy for Monday image

Iowa State coach Fred Hoiberg faces a major decision today as his Cyclones prepare to face Kansas. What will he do without star DeAndre Kane?

"Everybody's going to have to pick it up if he can't go," Hoiberg told The Des Moines Register.

Kane is a game-time decision for the Cyclones because of a sprained left ankle. He left Saturday's game against Oklahoma — Iowa State's first loss — with 22 seconds to play. X-rays were negative and there was no structural damage, the Register reported.

Hoiberg said he wouldn't rush Kane back into action. "He's sore, as is to be expected when you turn your ankle the way he did," he said Sunday.

Kane spent Sunday getting treatment on the ankle and said he was eager to see how he feels before the Jayhawks game.

Hoiberg's options for a go-to scorer include Monte Morris and Naz Long.

Kane's numbers: 16.5 points, 7.3 rebounds and 6.1 assists.
