One of the events that is sure to have everyone in Paris talking, the women's 100 meters takes place this weekend. 

Sha'Carri Richardson highlights the competition's participants. She will be making her Olympic debut, and she's favored to take home the gold. She won the U.S. Olympic trials with a time of 10.71 seconds, which represents the fastest time in world competition this year.

Fellow American Melissa Jefferson joins Richardson as one of the favorites to reach the podium, along with Shericka Jackson and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce from Jamaica. Jackson will be challenging with the hopes of claiming her first Olympic gold, while Fraser-Pryce will be hoping to add a ninth medal to her collection in what is her fifth trip to the Games.
