That's another record for Simone Biles. The gymnast scored a 119.750 to take home her ninth all-around gold medal at the 2024 U.S. Championships.
Not only that, but Biles swept the podium, winning every event for just the second time in her career (2018). She, along with Skye Blakely, officially clinch bids to the Olympic team trials later this month as the top-two all-around finishers.
After the two-day competition, Blakely made her mark on the selection committee. She won the silver all-around medal with a 113.850 and finished top three on vault, bars, and beam. The 19-year-old looks like a shoo-in for the Games roster.
Kayla DiCello, Suni Lee, and Jordan Chiles rounded out the top five all-around finishers. For Lee, it's just her second all-around competition in over a year after being diagnosed with two kidney diseases in 2023.
With only five athletes selected to go to Paris, it's going to be close. Biles, Blakely, and Shilese Jones seem to be cemented on the roster, leaving just two specialist spots available. The selection committee has just a month to decide what they want from the roster.
Gymnasts will give it their final shot at the Olympic trials later in June.
