Simone Biles floor routine score: How USA star outperformed Rebeca Andrade to clinch all-around gold image

Simone Biles entered the 2024 Olympics favored to win the women's gymnastics all-around final, but she faced stiff competition in her quest to take home gold.

Biles got off to a hot start on the vault, but she saw Rebeca Andrade overtake her after the second rotation. Biles got her lead back on the balance beam but carried a lead of just 0.176 points into the final event: the floor exercise.

The competition between the two on the final apparatus was expected to be fierce. The duo logged first- and second-place scores in the event in qualifying, but Biles' final score was 0.700 points better than Andrade's.

As such, many believed that if Biles avoided mistakes, she would be crowned an Olympic all-around champion for the second time in her legendary career.

Biles did exactly that. She landed all of her tumbling passes without falling or stepping out of bounds to earn a 1.199-point victory over Andrade.

Here's what to know about the final routines from the women's all-around gymnastics competition at the 2024 Olympics.

Simone Biles floor routine score

Biles posted a 15.066 on the floor, her final apparatus, to earn gold at the 2024 Olympics. She needed just a 13.868 on the floor to earn the gold, but she outperformed that — and her qualifying score of 14.600 — to earn victory in Paris.

The 27-year-old performed one of the hardest floor routines in the world and routinely showcased her unique ability to fly through the air. She can get as high as 12 feet into the air on the springboard floor, and she executed all of her aerial twists to near perfection during her routine.

Biles was never in danger of stepping out of bounds and made sure she didn't fall down at any point on her best apparatus. She landed cleanly almost every time with her singular focus on staying upright and in bounds during the competition.

Below is a look at a segment of Biles' gold-medal-winning routine.

By virtue of her excellent outing, Biles secured her second career all-around gold medal at the Olympics. She is one of just three women to achieve that feat in history, and she is the first to do so since 1968.

Rebeca Andrade floor routine score

Andrade scored a 14.033 on the floor exercises after putting together a great-looking floor routine. The performance included several quality tumble passes and some well-executed, high-difficulty elements in the air.

But Andrade made one critical mistake. She didn't quite get to the corner on one of her passes, instead going slightly to the side. The result? She stepped out of bounds with one of her feet and she stepped after her landing.

That gave Biles a bit more breathing room and the cushion she needed to earn a victory.

Still, Andrade can be proud of her routine. She improved upon her qualifying score by 0.133 points and earned her second consecutive all-around silver medal at the Olympics.

That will continue to add to her legacy as Brazil's greatest gymnast of all time.
