Sha'Carri Richardson makes her highly-anticipated Olympics debut in Paris this summer, but it isn’t without the slightest bit of controversy.

Richardson did not compete three years ago due to an anti-doping violation due to a positive test for THC. She said she hopes to rewrite a wrong. Richardson impressed in the Olympic Trials, setting a record lead time of 10.71 in the 100m qualifier in Oregon in June.

Richardson, 24, has been running track since she was 9. She became a professional five years ago after going one-and-done at LSU.

Richardson opened up to NBC and other reporters about what it meant to have the opportunity to finally participate in the Olympics after years of patience and hard work.

“It's a full-circle moment,” Richardson said.  "I'm super excited to continue to grow and build from this momentum that we've already established here."

That momentum will attempt to carry over into Paris, as Richardson is one of 350 athletes across several different sports to represent the United States.
