Up next in the Olympic track and field competition is the highly anticipated men's marathon, taking place on Aug. 10.

One of the biggest rivalries on the track will commence between Ethopia's Kenenisa Bekele and Kenya's Eliud Kipchoge. Bekele is making his return to the Olympics after missing out on the Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 games, while Kipchoge is eyeing his third Olympic marathon gold.

Tokyo silver-medalist Abdi Nageeye from the Netherlands and bronze-medalist Bashir Abdi from Belgium will also be competing.

Leonard Korir, Conner Mantz, and Clayton Young will be running for Team USA.

Due to the elevation gain and loss of the route, the Olympic marathon in Paris has been discussed as one of the more challenging courses. Which athlete will come out on top?

For the first time in history, the general public will be invited to put themselves in the shoes of Olympians and run on the same route as the elite athletes. Around 20,024 participants will run the same course just hours after the men's Olympic marathon race.
