Kano Pillars will leave for Lokoja on Thursday to continue with the rest of their pre-season activities before leaving for the Gold Cup pre-season tournament taking place in Ilorin from November 15.

Pillars have resumed for the preparations for the upcoming season since last month and the chief coach of the team, Ahmed Garba revealed that Sai Masu Gida have concluded plans to hit Lokoja for few days training sessions before storming Ilorin on November 14 ahead of the pre-season tournament billed to start a day later.

“We are going to leave for Lokoja on Thursday to continue with the rest of our preparations for the new season. We will only train for few days in Lokoja because of the tournament in Ilorin billed to start on November 15. We want to use the tournament to gauge the level of our preparations,” Garba told Goal.

“We are looking at bringing in seven new players while also including some of the players in our feeder team. We want to correct the mistakes of last season and everything is being done to get the best legs for Pillars.

“The technical crew had a meeting with the management where it was agreed that we are going to sign seven new players to fortify the ones we have. We are trying to build a very strong team ahead of the upcoming season,” he added.

Pillars are striving to relaunch themselves back into the stream of things in the Nigerian league after they dominated from 2012 to 2014 but have failed to reach such pedestal again since then.
