One of the oldest rivalries in hockey is getting the outdoor treatment in the 2016 NHL Winter Classic.
The Montreal Canadiens and Boston Bruins will meet in the 2016 NHL Winter Classic on New Year's Day at Gillettte Stadium in Foxboro, Mass., home of the NFL's Patriots. This is the first Winter Classic for the Canadiens, and the second for the Bruins, who played the Flyers in Fenway Park in 2010. The Canadiens played in the Heritage Classic in 2003 in Edmonton and in 2011 in Calgary.

Going into the game, the Canadiens (21-15-3) are in second place in the Atlantic Division and had an awful December with just three wins in 14 games. The Bruins are a point behind them in third place (20-12-4). Boston won the previous meeting between the two teams 3-1 on Dec. 9 in Montreal.
