Ryan Donato is sticking around Minnesota.

The Wild have agreed to a two-year, $3.8 million contract with the forward, the team announced Tuesday.

He was given a qualifying offer three weeks ago, but the team clearly wants to keep him around for another couple of years rather than stringing him along season to season.

Donato came to Minnesota with a fifth-round pick in a deal before the deadline that sent Charlie Coyle to the Bruins.

The 23-year-old Boston native excelled after moving to Minnesota, scoring four goals and adding 12 assists in 22 games down the stretch.

“I keep on saying it’s a blessing in disguise,” he said of the trade, via SKOR North in March. “Obviously, nobody expects or wants to be traded, especially from their home city. But at the end of the day I wanted to be an NHL player, and Minnesota has given me a chance to do that. I’m not going to try to give up on that opportunity at all. I want to make sure I come every day prepared and ready to work and hopefully help the team win.”

He finished with 10 goals and 15 assists for the season.

Donato originally was a second-round pick by the Bruins in 2014 out of Dexter School in Massachusetts.

He has 15 goals and 19 assists in his career.
