The deal is worth $28 million over its term, according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press.

"I like it here," Pominville said recently. "I want to be here."

Pominville, 30, came to the Wild from the Buffalo Sabres last season in an April trade for well-regarded prospects Matt Hackett and Johan Larsson. They also sent a first-round pick and a second-round pick to the Sabres and received a fourth-round pick.

Pominville had four goals and five assists in 10 games for the Wild last season before going down with a concussion.

He appeared in two playoff games.

Getting the deal done before the season started was a priority both for Pominville and the Wild. Pominville could have become an unrestricted free agent after the 2013-14 NHL season.

Pominville was a second round pick, No. 55 overall, by the Sabres in the 2001 draft. He was the Sabres' captain before being traded.

He had 40 goals and 43 assists in 2011-12, his most recent 82-game season.
