The best rivalry between superstars in hockey takes place center stage on Wednesday night, as TNT is set to broadcast Sidney Crosby's Penguins going against Alex Ovechkin and the Capitals.

The pair have been synonymous since they made their NHL debuts together back in 2005. The two not only are No. 1 overall picks that are generational talents, but also have been pitted against each other in the same division for the last 18 years.

Pittsburgh started off the year hot, building a 4-0-1 record through the first two weeks of the season. However, the club has fallen apart since, dropping seven games in a row, including blowing third-period leads against the Bruins and Sabres. The Penguins desperately need a win to right the ship.

Meanwhile, the Capitals are 6-6-2, trying to tread water as the team deals with a plethora of injuries. Tom Wilson and Nicklas Backstrom were already out to start the season, and now John Carlson and T.J. Oshie are out. The Caps recently snapped a four-game skid with a 5-4 win over the Oilers on Monday.

It's the first meeting between the two this year. In total, the Penguins and Capitals will play against each other three times during the regular season.

In addition to Penguins-Capitals, the network will also be airing Wild vs. Ducks. Minnesota had disappointed to start the season, posting a 5-5-1 record. They most recently fell to the Kings in Los Angeles. Meanwhile, the Ducks are 4-8-1, having strung together three wins in their last five games.
