There are in-game traditions that happen at all sporting events. The NHL is no different. 

From generic customs like throwing caps on the ice for a hat trick, to team-specific ones like Panthers fans throwing plastic rats on the ice, part of what makes the experience is that interaction with the fans. 

The Stars have a tradition of their own that is centered around the national anthem. If you are ever at a Dallas game, or watching the broadcast, you can hear the crowd get involved during the playing of the Star Spangled Banner.

So what is that the Stars fans are yelling, and why do they do it? The Sporting News explains.

What are Stars fans yelling during the National Anthem?

There are two times during the National Anthem that you will hear the crowd in Dallas chant out. Both times, it's the same word that is being bellowed out at American Airlines Arena: Stars. 

Who sings the National Anthem at Stars games?

Celena Rae is the singer of the National Anthem at Stars games. She is a native of Fort Worth and also serves as the Stars' in-game host. 

She has been with the organization since the 2005-06 season. Previously, she competed on American Idol in 2005, where she made it to the semifinals. 

Rae has toured around the country, performing with a multitude of artists. She also is an actress.
