The St. Louis Blues may be without their starting goaltender for a while. Jake Allen left Saturday night's game against the Chicago Blackhawks late in the second period after a collision with teammate Zach Sanford.
Allen, who had stoned Brandon Saad on the play with his right pad, appeared to be clipped in the head by Sanford as he was playing his man. Allen stayed down and was attended to on the ice by head trainer Ray Barile. He left the game and did not return. Chad Johnson replaced him between the pipes.
Allen was starting his ninth game of the season. He had stopped 16 of 19 shots before the injury and was in line for the win.
He entered the game 2-2-3 with a 3.93 goals-against average and a .876 save percentage this season.
