The No.11 pick of the 2013 draft, Morin was in action with the Rimouski Oceanic of the QMJHL when he was struck in the face by a Cody Donaghey shot from the point. The 19 year old was immediately attended to by trainers, though he skated off the ice under his own power.
The video from the incident is below.
Morin totaled seven goals and 24 assists last year in juniors and had notched three assists in four games after he failing to make the Flyers out of training camp.
The Flyers also announced that Vincent Lecavalier will miss the next two weeks as the result of a lower-body injury.
It’s a tough blow for Lecavalier, who had gotten off to a good start to the season, notching a goal and two assists in the Flyers’ first three games of the campaign. Lecavalier had been a positive driver of possession, something he was not last season even though he did notch 20 goals in 69 games.
On the bright side for the Flyers, Braydon Coburn is listed as day-to-day. The defenseman was diagnosed with a lower-body injury prior to Philadelphia's game Thursday. The injury was first thought to be serious, but the belief is now he should be able to return within the next few games.
The Flyers have dropped all three of their games so far. Though they did pick up a point in an overtime loss to Montreal on Sunday, that came after blowing a three-goal third period advantage at home. Philadelphia next plays Tuesday against the Ducks.
