When it comes to the NHL Draft, there are few experts as knowledgeable on prospects as Sam Cosentino.

The Sportsnet reporter will be on the network's broadcast of the event, detailing each pick from all seven rounds of the draft. In addition to Cosentino, David Amber, Jason Bukala, and Pierre McGuire will be covering the two-day event for Sportsnet.

Who is Sam Cosentino?

Believe it or not, Cosentino did not get his media career started in hockey.

Cosentino received a scholarship to play baseball at the Spring Arbor College in Michigan. After college, he joined the Toronto Blue Jays organization as a clubhouse employee. While he was with the MLB team, he hosted the radio show, "Jr. Jays."

His broadcasting career began back in 1998 when he joined Rogers TV as a broadcaster for the Ontario Hockey League. A few years later, he was hired by Sportsnet to be an analyst, covering junior hockey and the AHL.

In 2003, Cosentino left the Blue Jays and transitioned to the Canadian Baseball League, calling games on The Score, now known as SN360. The next year he was the network's play-by-play announcer for the Montreal Expos.

In his career, Cosentino has broadcasted games in the CHL, AHL and NHL. He was also on the broadcast for the women's ice hockey gold medal game at the 2010 Winter Olympics between the United States and Canada in Vancouver.

Now, in addition to being on the call for a multitude of leagues, Costentino's focus is on the prospects for the NHL. He follows along with junior hockey players and European prospects in addition to writing big boards, mock drafts, and analyzing the potential future stars of the NHL each year for the NHL draft.
