The Nashville Predators announced Tuesday that the team has re-signed forward Colton Sissons to a seven-year contract worth $20 million.

Sissons, 25, recorded career-highs in goals (15) and assists (15) in 75 games last season while winning 53.1% of faceoff draws. Over the course of the centerman's five seasons in Nashville, he has grown into one of the team's most dependable penalty killers, averaging more shorthanded ice time per game (1:58) than any other Predators forward in 2018-19.

According to CapFriendly, the average annual value of Sissons' contract will work out to $2,857,143 against the salary cap, leaving Nashville with roughly $2.3 million in cap space as of now. It's quite a raise for the North Vancouver, BC, native whose contract had been worth $625,000 over the last three seasons.

With the signing, Sissons and the Predators avoid a contract arbitration hearing that had been scheduled for July 26.
