The Golden Knights are a win away from their first Stanley Cup championship.

Vegas defeated Florida 3-2 in Game 4 on Saturday night to take a 3-1 lead in the 2023 Stanley Cup Final.

William Karlsson had the game-winning goal, while Chandler Stephenson found the back of the net twice for Vegas. Adin Hill made 29 saves in net for the Golden Knights.

The Golden Knights used a dominant second period to build a 3-0 lead, but the Panthers refused to go away easily, receiving a late goal in the frame from Brandon Montour to cut the deficit.

An early third period goal from Aleksander Barkov made it a one-goal game, but Florida was unable to find the equalizer. Sergei Bobrovsky was sensational in the losing effort, stopping 28 of the 31 shots he faced.

It marked the first time in the series that the away team walked away victorious. Now, the Golden Knights have a chance to win the Stanley Cup at home with Game 5 set for Tuesday.

All times Eastern

Final: Golden Knights 3, Panthers 2

11 p.m.: Vegas hangs on to win Game 4. Florida nearly scored in the dying seconds, but Hill made a sensational pad save on Tkachuk, with chaos breaking out at the end of the game. Regardless, it's a win for the Golden Knights and are now a win away from the franchise's first Stanley Cup win.

10:59 p.m.: Buckle in, folks. Florida is getting a power play with 17 seconds left as Pietrangelo sends the puck directly out of play. That's a costly penalty late in the contest and Vegas loses its top defenseman at the most crucial point of the game.

10:56 p.m.: Maurice calls a timeout for Florida with 45 seconds remaining. It'll be a neutral zone faceoff following an offside call on the Panthers.

10:53 p.m.: The Panthers are putting any and all pucks on Hill. Montour's shot from the point creates a chance in the crease, but it eventually is cleared away. There's 1:29 remaining.

10:52 p.m.: Bobrovsky to the bench with 2:26 remaining. It worked in Game 3 for the Panthers, we'll see if they can do it again tonight.

10:50 p.m.: Two massive stops by Bobrovsky keep Florida in the game. Marchessault stole the puck in the neutral zone and got in on a breakaway, but his shot attempt was stopped by the Panthers goaltender. Then, a Gudas pass is picked off in the slot by Barbashev, but his shot was deflected away by Bobrovsky's stick.

10:48 p.m.: There's less than five minutes left in the third. We'll see when Maurice elects to pull Bobrovsky.

10:41 p.m.: A massive stop by Bobrovsky on Eichel keeps this a one-goal game. Barbashev finds a wide open Eichel in the slot, who fires it right into the chest of Bobrovsky. That's another quality look for the Golden Knights that they make easy for the Panthers goaltender.

10:39 p.m.: Tkachuk hasn't played since around the 15-minute mark of the third. There's less than nine minutes left in regulation.

10:36 p.m.: Barkov nearly had his second of the night to tie the game, but he couldn't quite put home a loose puck at the top of the crease. We're under 10 minutes left in the third with Vegas holding onto a 3-2 lead.

10:31 p.m.: The Panthers really don't go away. You can sense the energy shift on the ice in Florida's favor.

10:23 p.m.: GOAL! Barkov makes this a one-goal game 3:50 into the third. Montour slings a backhand pass through the crease to Barkov on the other side, and he beats Hill for the second Panthers goal. It's the captain's first point of the series and it comes at a huge time. Golden Knights 3, Panthers 2.

10:23 p.m.: Brett Howden gets a stick on a Pietrangelo shot, causing Bobrovsky to make a slick toe save.

10:19 p.m.: Eichel is back on the Golden Knights bench.

10:17 p.m.: The third period of Game 4 has started. No Eichel on the bench for Vegas.

End of the second period: Golden Knights 3, Panthers 1

9:58 p.m.: A dominant second period results in a two-goal lead for Vegas, but it most certainly could have been more, if not for the play of Bobrovsky. Florida benefitted from a lucky bounces late to get on the board, but it was all Vegas in the second. The Panthers will have to be much better in the third.

9:56 p.m.: Eichel is heading down the tunnel with 53 seconds left in the second. He took a shot from Marchessault right off the side/back of the neck.

9:52 p.m.: GOAL! Florida is on the board with 3:51 remaining in the second. A shot from Brandon Montour deflects off the legs of both Brayden McNabb and Theodore, and into the net. Two extremely lucky bounces for the Panthers, who were in desperate need of a break. Golden Knights 3, Panthers 1.

9:44 p.m.: Marchessault nearly gets his fourth of the series, but he rings the post on a slap shot. It's all Golden Knights right now.

9:42 p.m.: Right after the Karlsson goal, Smith nearly makes it 4-0, getting a one-time attempt on the backdoor, but Bobrovsky made the save.

9:41 p.m.: GOAL! William Karlsson makes it a three-goal lead for Vegas with 8:56 to go in the second. A strong forecheck from the line results in a puck getting up to the point to Nicolas Hague, whose shot on net was initially stopped, but Karlsson put home the rebound. The Golden Knights are pulling away in this one. Golden Knights 3, Panthers 0.

9:39 p.m.: As the second period reaches the halfway point, there has not been much action in the Vegas end. Florida hasn't put nearly as much pressure on Hill and the Vegas defense as it did in the first. Tkachuk is most definitely not playing at 100%.

9:34 p.m.: GOAL! Make it two goals on the night for Stephenson, doubling the Vegas lead 7:28 into the second. Stephenson takes a pass from Stone in the slot and slings it off the post and in. It came just moments after Stephenson passed up a chance to get the puck on net in close, electing instead to pass, and it was nullified. Golden Knights 2, Panthers 0.

9:28 p.m.: Another Grade-A chance for the Golden Knights that results in a shot into the gut of Bobrovsky. This time it was Smith, who took advantage of an errant bounce on a clearing attempt and was in close alone in the Florida goaltender, but he put it right in the middle of Bobrovsky.

9:26 p.m.: Florida kills off the Staal minor. Vegas did not record a single shot on the power play.

9:22 p.m.: The first penalty of the game goes to Marc Staal for tripping Mark Stone. Vegas heads to its first power play of the night 2:52 into the second. It looks like Stone may have just caught an edge and fell. Maurice and the Florida bench are not happy.

9:16 p.m.: Second period has started.

End of the first period: Golden Knights 1, Panthers 0

8:58 p.m.: After 20 minutes, Vegas has a one-goal lead. The Golden Knights got out to a hot start start, resulting in the Stephenson breakaway goal. The Panthers settled in after, making it a back-and-forth period. The biggest surprise? No penalties called in the opening frame after multiple infraction-filled contests in this series. Shots on goal are even at 12-12.

8:56 p.m.: Florida has taken advantage of a number of turnovers by Vegas in its own zone and the neutral zone, but have yet to beat Hill. The Golden Knights are going to want to clean that up, especially with a one-goal lead.

8:52 p.m.: The Golden Knights have the Panthers running in circles in their own zone trying to break up the cycle, and it results in Shea Theodore getting the puck in the slot, walking in and getting a clean look on Bobrovsky that's swallowed up with no rebound. Still a 1-0 Vegas lead with under four minutes left in the period.

8:46 p.m.: Bobrovsky has been busy in the first, but he's been solid outside of the Stephenson breakaway. He just shouldered off a tough shot from Reilly Smith on a rush to keep it a 1-0 game.

8:38 p.m.: The Barbashev-Eichel-Marchessault line has been sensational so far for Vegas. That combination seems to be generating chances every time it hits the ice. Still a 1-0 lead for the Golden Knights at the halfway point of the period.

8:35 p.m.: Hill makes his first big save of the net. The Panthers get a good look off an offensive zone faceoff, with a point shot getting blocked and ending up right on Matthew Tkachuk's tape with an open net, but the Vegas goaltender slid across to get in the way of the attempt.

8:32 p.m.: Barbashev gets his second good look of the night, attempting a one-timer in space in front of the net, but his shot is denied by Bobrovsky.

8:28 p.m.: After a bad start to the game, the Panthers have responded with three or four shifts with sustained offensive pressure following the Stephenson goal. They have only got one shot onto Hill, but Paul Maurice has to be happy with his team's answer after giving up the opening goal.

8:25 p.m.: GOAL! Vegas needs just 1:39 before striking first in Game 4. A strong neutral zone regroup by the Golden Knights results in Chandler Stephenson getting a breakaway, and he beats Bobrovsky five-hole. That was a bad change by the Panthers that allowed Stephenson to get into the Florida zone without pressure. Golden Knights 1, Panthers 0.

8:23 p.m.: A quick start for the Golden Knights, as Ivan Barbashev unleashes a slap shot in space that's swallowed up by Bobrovsky just 22 seconds into the game.

8:22 p.m.: Game 4 is underway from FLA Live Arena.

Pregame

8 p.m.: No surprise to see Adin Hill vs. Sergei Bobrovsky as the battle in the crease.

7:45 p.m.: Here's how the two sides will lineup for Game 4. No changes for Vegas, no  personnel changes for Florida, but some shuffling of the top two lines with Carter Verhaeghe and Nick Cousins switching spots on the left wing. We still have not seen Eetu Luostarinen for the Panthers in this series, who was injured in the final game of the Eastern Conference Final.

6:50 p.m.: The Golden Knights have only lost two consecutive games during the 2023 playoffs. In the Western Conference Final, the Stars won Games 4 and 5 to stay alive after the Golden Knights built a 3-0 series lead before winning in six.

6:30 p.m.: The Panthers are 5-3 at home during these playoffs, but have won five of the last six contests at FLA Live Arena. On the other side, the Game 3 loss for the Golden Knights was the team's third time losing as the away club, dropping its record to 6-3.
