You've heard of the Oscar Mayer hot dog and the whistle. But have you heard about Oskar Maier the hockey player?
That's right. The Austrian forward that took the hockey world by storm in December is back again for the summer edition of the 2022 World Juniors.
Maier was a member of the Austria team that played at the canceled competition in December, and he quickly went viral because of his name.

Now, he's back again in Edmonton as Austria aims to compete at the World Juniors. Austria has its toughest test yet on Saturday, as they square off against the USA at 2 p.m. ET. They lost their first game of the tourney, a 4-2 decision to Germany.

What team does Oskar Maier play for?
Maier has spent his career playing in his home country of Austria. The 5-9 forward was most recently the captain of RB Hockey Juniors of the Alps Hockey League, a professional hockey league in Central Europe with teams from Austria, Italy and Slovenia. He recorded 24 points in 27 games.
He also played for EC Salzburg of the ICEHL, a European professional league with teams from Austria, Italy, Hungary and Slovenia. With the club, Maier played in 20 games, registering a goal and an assist.
It's expected that the Austrian forward will play for both clubs again in the 2022-23 season.
What NHL team drafted Oskar Maier?
Maier has not been drafted by a team in the NHL. He has been eligible to be selected since the 2019 NHL Draft and will remain eligible until he turns 21 years old.
He is currently 20 years old, so he will be eligible for 2023 and considered an overage player.
