What time is Maple Leafs vs. Blackhawks? NHL on TNT game headlines Wednesday doubleheader image

For the first time since the end of January, the Wednesday night NHL doubleheader is back on TNT.

The network has two games on tonight, as the Maple Leafs and Blackhawks square off in the early slate before the Avalanche and Wild wrap up the TNT action.

Toronto and Chicago are on opposite ends of the league standings. The Maple Leafs have been one of the best clubs this year, trailing only the Bruins for first place in the Atlantic Division.

Star center Auston Matthews remains out of the lineup as he nurses a knee sprain, but All-Star Mitch Marner, captain John Tavares and winger William Nylander continue to propel the offense in his absence.

The Blackhawks enter Wednesday with the worst record in the Western Conference and trail only the Blue Jackets for the lowest points total. This could be one of the last times Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews play on national TV in a Blackhawks uniform, as the March 3rd trade deadline looms.

After the Leafs-Blackhawks is a contest between the No. 3 and No. 4 teams in the Central Division, the Wild and Avalanche.

Colorado has been banged up all year but has managed to stick around in the playoff race and is starting to get healthy. Meanwhile, Minnesota has been one of the more inconsistent teams in the West, having lost seven of its last 10 games.

Here is what you need to know to watch the NHL on TNT on Wednesday.
