The Capitals did just about everything necessary to win Game 2 against the Columbus Blue Jackets and even their best-of-seven series at 1-1.
But while they beat Sergei Bobrovsky four times on the night, they needed a fifth, and Bobrovsk'y 54 saves -- a career-high-- helped propel Columbus to another road victory, a 5-4 overtime win to see the Blue Jackets go up 2-0 in the series.
Through two games, Bobrovsky has now stopped 81 of 88 shots against.
It was a busy night for Bobrovsky, who made 17 saves in the first period, including this one with the right pad to deny the Capitals' Lars Eller.
Washington led 2-1 after the first period, and kept Bobrovsky busy in the second with another 12 shots. The Blue Jackets made their move in the middle frame, though, scoring three times to carry a 4-3 lead into the third period.
Bobrovsky did everything he could to protect that lead over the final 20 minutes of regulation, but was eventually beaten by T.J. Oshie with 3:35 left to play. Bobrovsky did turn back Alex Ovechkin when the score was still 4-3, thwarting the Capitals' captain's hat trick.
Bobrovsky also sprawled out in the third to keep this puck from trickling over the line, one of the many highlights he produced on Sunday.

That set the stage for overtime, where again the Capitals got the better of the shot share, doubling up Columbus 6-3. It wasn't enough though, with Bobrovsky a perfect 6-for-6, and Matt Calvert putting the finishing touches on the victory with the overtime goal. The game-winner was reviewed for offside, but the call was upheld.
The series now shifts to Colubmus with the Blue Jackets holding a 2-0 series lead. Game 3 will be played on Tuesday.
