There was uncertainty about the participants and seedings until the final day of the regular season, but the bracket has officially been finalized. The 2024 NHL Playoffs are finally here.
The Rangers earned the Presidents' Trophy with 55 wins and 114 points, setting the stage for a postseason run that New Yorkers are hoping ends with a title celebration. But they will have to overcome the dreaded Presidents' Trophy curse, as only three teams since the 2005-06 season have won the trophy and advanced to the Stanley Cup Final.
The Bruins, Hurricanes, Maple Leafs and Panthers are also considered Eastern Conference contenders after strong regular seasons. It wouldn't be a surprise to see any of those teams taking the ice for the championship series.
In the Western Conference, the Stars finished with the most points (113) because of their incredibly complete roster. The Avalanche, Canucks, Oilers and Jets shouldn't be dismissed, though, as they weren't far behind Dallas in the standings.
