Wayne Gretzky owns a lot of NHL records. I know, shocking.
It's not different when the conversation shifts to the postseason. Part of what made the Great One so great was his ability to turn it up come playoff time. As a result, Gretzky lifted the Stanley Cup four times and was named the Conn Smythe winner as playoff MVP twice.
No one is sniffing his record for the most playoff points all-time, and there is a good chance nobody breaks his record for most points in a single playoff run either.
With that said, there is still an abundance of exceptional playoff performers in the NHL. Sidney Crosby is one of them, as the Penguins captain has crept up into the top five on the all-time playoff point list.

Here is a look at who has the most playoff points in NHL history.
Who has the most playoff points in NHL history?
Gretzky holds the record for most playoff points. With 382, the Great One has nearly 100 more than the next closest player, Mark Messier.
Gretzky and Messier are two of just six players in NHL history with 200 playoff points. Jari Kurri, Glenn Anderson, Jaromir Jagr and Sidney Crosby are the other four.
Crosby is the only active player on the top 10 list. His 10 playoff points in the 2022 postseason helped him reach the 200-point threshold for postseason stats. It moved him past Paul Coffey and into a tie with Jaromir Jagr, another Penguins star, for the fifth-most playoff points ever.

His postseason runs with the Oilers and the Kings were iconic as Gretzky took home the Conn Smythe as playoff MVP in 1985 and 1988. He's not called "The Great One" for nothing.
Speaking of Edmonton superstars, McDavid's sensational 2022 playoffs nearly cracked the top 10. The Oilers captain recorded 33 points during the team's run to the Western Conference Final, placing him in a tie for 18th on the list.
