It took longer than both sides likely had wanted, but a deal was finally made.
The Minnesota Wild reached a deal with its final restricted free agent of the upcoming season on Thursday, signing left wing Marcus Foligno to a four-year, $11.5 million deal.
The deal comes just one day before the Wild take the ice to start training camp.
The 26-year-old was acquired in June in a trade with Buffalo. He averaged more than 15 minutes per game for the Sabres last season, scoring a career-high 13 goals and 10 assists in 80 games. He had 57 blocked shots, and ranked fifth in the NHL with a career-high 279 hits.
Foligno will make $2 million this season, $3 million during the 2018-19 season, $3.5 million in 2019-20 and $3 million in 2020-21.
