It took a full season in the NHL, and then some, but Miles Wood can finally cross another milestone off his list.
The New Jersey winger scored his first career hat trick on Sunday night while the Devils were in Chicago.
His first goal came just 3:40 into the first period when Wood tapped in a shot right in front of the net to tie the game 1-1.
Then Wood caught a pass from Corey Crawford at the top of the circle and fired it into the goal just before the end of the first period.
Then early in the third period, while the Devils were on a power play, Wood caught a pass down low to score his third goal of the night.
His three goals on Sunday doubled his season total, and brought his career goals to 14.
