Another game, another point for Mike Hoffman.
The Florida Panthers forward extended his franchise-record point streak to 15 games against the New York Rangers on Saturday night at Madison Square Garden. Hoffman tied the game 1-1 just 4:40 into the first period as he rocketed a slap shot past Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist.
Hoffman's eighth goal of the season made him the first player to record a point streak of at least 15 games in his first season with a team since Dany Heatley had a 22-game run with Hoffman's former team, the Ottawa Senators, in the 2005-06 season. The 28-year-old Kitchener, Ontario, native also became the 11th player in NHL history to post a point streak of 15 games or more in his inaugural season with a team.

Hoffman spent parts of his first seven NHL seasons with the Senators prior to being traded last summer. He was initially traded to the San Jose Sharks as part of a four-player deal before the Panthers acquired him hours later.
With the streak extended, Hoffman added another point more than halfway through the first period when he assisted on Aaron Ekblad. Ekblad's third goal of the season, which gave the Panthers a 2-1 lead.
