For Maple Leafs fans who have been asking for a new goal song, your dream has come true.
Toronto begins the 2023-24 season on Wednesday night, and once the Leafs light the lamp, a brand-new goal tune will ring out at Scotiabank Arena.
The Toronto Sun's Lance Hornby reported that the team is parting ways with the song "You Make My Dreams" by Daryl Hall and John Oates after five seasons, and will introduce a different celebration song on opening night.
Hall and Oates are out. Leafs confirm they will change goal song ‘Dreams’ to a selection of three or four tunes based on Original Six games, Next Generation, Throwback Thursdays and a regular season standard to be unveiled tonight.

The Hall & Oates hit received mixed feelings from the Toronto faithful and the players. Some enjoyed the tune, due to its catchiness and how different it was than a typical NHL goal song. However, others have called for a change, like Leafs star Auston Matthews did towards the tail end of last season.

What is the Maple Leafs' new goal song?
The Maple Leafs' new goal song is a remix of Kid Cudi's 2009 hit "Pursuit of Happiness".

Toronto fans had to wait for the first Leafs goal at Scotiabank Arena before hearing the new song. Maple Leafs forward Noah Gregor delivered in the second period of the season opener against the Canadiens.
It is a completely different tune than the Hall & Oates song, giving a more upbeat vibe to the in-arena experience.
According to Hornby, it does not appear as though Toronto will be using just one goal song this season. The Leafs are going to incorporate "three or four" new tunes this year depending on the matchup and type of game, however "Pursuit of Happiness" is expected to be the regular tune played in Toronto.
Differing celebration songs will be used for Original Six matchups, Toronto's "Next Generation" game and Throwback Thursdays in Toronto.
Maple Leafs goal song history
Toronto has gone through a number of goal songs in its history.
In the 1990s, the Maple Leafs used Technotronic's 1989 hit, "Move This" for several years. That was back when the club still resided at Maple Leafs Gardens. They also utilized "Feeling Hot Hot Hot" by The Merrymen during that time.
In 1999, when the Maple Leafs moved into Scotiabank Arena, the team also made a switch with its goal song. At first, the organization used "Get Ready" by 2 Unlimited, which the Sharks used as their goal song for a number of years in the 2010s.
The celebration tune changed again in the mid-2000s, this time to "Kernkraft 400" by Zombie Nation, a staple at most sporting events and the goal song most synonymous with the Bruins.
Ever since 2010, the team has gone through a multitude of goal songs. During this experimentation stage, Toronto tried using Metallica's "Wherever I May Roam", Locksley's "The Whip", Baauer's "Harlem Shake", American Authors' "Best Day of My Life" and Monster Truck's "The Enforcer".
Nothing seemed to stick until the Hall & Oates jam came into play in 2018.
That tune had been the Maple Leafs goal song up until the 2023-24 season.
