"We like our game right now," Montour said after Game 1. "We've still got a lot of hockey left. We're obviously happy with that win. That's one, but we need to get three more."

Meanwhile, for the Leafs, rookie Matthew Knies scored his first career NHL goal and winger Michael Bunting added the other tally. Goaltender Ilya Samsonov made 24 saves in the losing effort.

"Credit to Florida," Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe said after the loss. "They played a great game today. But it's a long series, just like the last one we played."

The two sides are back in action tonight, as Game 2 is on deck to headline the Thursday night slate of games.
