Panthers gain split in Finland, beat Jets 4-2 despite another Patrik Laine goal image

Roberto Luongo made 32 saves in his return to the lineup Friday as the Florida Panthers beat the Winnipeg Jets 4-2 to gain a split of the two games played between the teams in Helsinki, Finland as part of the NHL Global Series.

Patrik Laine, the high-flying Finn who recorded his fifth career hat trick in Winnipeg's 4-2 win on Thursday, scored again on Friday, but it wasn't enough for the Jets as Luongo stopped all 17 shots he faced in the third period to preserve Florida's first regulation victory this season.

Laine's Finnish counterpart, Panthers' captain Aleksander Barkov, was held off the scoresheet Friday after picking up an assist on home soil 24 hours prior. However, Florida's Keith Yandle and Evgenii Dadonov both had a goal and an assist in the win. Yandle has 12 points in 11 games this season, the best start to a season by a defenseman in franchise history.

The game turned in the second period when the Panthers erased a 2-1 deficit and turned it into a 3-2 lead while outshooting the Jets 12-3 over the middle twenty.
