Hockey Hall of Famers: They're just like us!
Well, one of them sure was this weekend: Jarome Iginla, a member of the Hall's 2020 class.
Iginla was chilling at a rest stop in Lexington, Mass., during a winter storm Saturday when Boston television station WFXT asked to talk to him about the weather. The Edmonton native, 20-year NHL veteran and former Bruin had a wonderfully understated response. The station's presentation matched the low-key vibe:
"I like the snow, I like the winter, but not necessarily this," said Jarome Iginla. "May be a little too much.”
A snow-rain mix coupled with high winds, aka a nor'easter, created difficult road conditions across Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Vermont, the station reported. Iginla offered advice on how to handle them.

"Pretty tough, we’re from Canada, so it’s not too crazy," he told WFXT. "I mean we got some winter tires. Used to this growing up so, it’s not great, I’ll tell you, you get some tough stretches, but if you don’t go too fast it’s doable."
And while the journalists at WFXT may or may not have recognized Iginla or played up his background, hockey media sure did.
Is it just me, or was this Jarome Iginla being interviewed at a rest area during storm coverage and Ch. 25 might not have realized it? @NicoleOliverio pic.twitter.com/F43BCYeqg2

Other tweeters noted that Iginla, 43, lives in greater Boston and coaches his son in youth hockey. He played for the Bruins in the 2013-14 season, notching 30 goals and 31 assists in 78 games.
