Jake Guentzel was an NHL player for all of about 10 hours before the Pittsburgh Penguins rookie scored his first goal on the first shot of his first shift Monday.
After recalling the 22-year-old earlier in the day, the Penguins stuck Guentzel on their second line against the New York Rangers, and he snuck a neat little wrist shot underneath goalie Antti Raanta's right pad just one minute into the game. In attendance for the big debut, the Guentzel family reacted accordingly.
Cue the proud parent footage.

If that weren't impressive enough, Guentzel added another goal off a rebound later in the first period for a 2-0 Penguins lead.

Guentzel, a third-round draft pick by the Penguins in 2013, was leading the club's AHL affiliate in scoring (17 points in 16 games) before he was called up to replace veteran Chris Kunitz, who was placed on injured reserve Monday. He joined famous teammates Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin to score a goal in their NHL debut.
Niether of them did it twice, though. Nor on their first shifts. Scrubs.
