The series that will determine who is the best in the West starts tonight.

The Golden Knights and Stars begin their conference finals series with Game 1 set to take place out in Las Vegas.

Vegas defeated Edmonton in six games to reach their fourth conference finals in six seasons. The Golden Knights did enough to best Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl and the Oilers at 5 on 5 in their second-round series to knock off one of the favorites in the conference.

Dallas required the full seven games in its second-round series against Seattle, but the Stars walked away with a Game 7 victory to clinch their spot in the Western Conference Final. The club returns to within one round of the Stanley Cup Final for the first time since 2020.

The Stars aim for their first Stanley Cup win since 1999, while the Golden Knights have never hoisted Lord Stanley.

This is a rematch of the 2020 Western Conference Final. The Stars took that series in five games over the Golden Knights.

Prediction: The fortress hasn't exactly bode well for Vegas this season. The Golden Knights were one of the worst teams at home during the regular season. I think the Stars ride the momentum of their Game 7 win over the Kraken into Game 1 and steal a contest on the road.

Stars 5, Golden Knights 4
