Jaromir Jagr will add another season to his Hall-of-Fame career.
The Panthers signed the star forward to a one-year contract, the team announced Thursday. The financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed, though Jagr will likely receive a similar deal as last year when he earned a base salary of $3.5 million plus incentives.

“Jaromir is a Hall of Fame player and had an excellent season playing alongside Aleksander Barkov and Jonathan Huberdeau,” executive vice president and general manager Dale Tallon said in a statement. “His track record speaks for itself, ranking third all-time in points and goals. He has been a great fit with our organization and we are excited to have him back for next season.”
Jagr, who was acquired by the Panthers at the 2015 trade deadline from the Devils, led the team with 66 points last season by logging 27 goals and 39 assists in 79 games. The 44-year-old recorded two assists during Florida’s six playoff games in the first-round series against the Islanders.
“Jaromir has had a tremendous influence on our younger players and has been a key offensive contributor on our team,” coach Gerard Gallant said. “We are happy to have him back as we look to build off this year’s playoff appearance.”
A 22-year NHL veteran, Jagr has also had stints with the Penguins, Capitals, Rangers, Flyers, Stars and Bruins. He has recorded 1,868 points in 1,629 regular season games in addition to 201 points in 208 playoff games and is the only player in league history to record 25 goals at 43 years old.
